Willamette River 5/19/2018
Event #5 on the 2018 Oregon region trail was held on 5/19/2018 at Willamette River at Newberg-Rogers Landing. With just one more event left this season, the race for Anglers of the Year is at its peak! With the final event just the day after this tournament, the wait was not long! The Anglers of the Year title is decided by the best 5 events of the year.
Each exciting American Bass/Ranger Boats Team Classic's awards a new Ranger/Mercury/Lowrance boat package to the winning team. These events are invitation only events. Teams earn an invitation by qualifying in one of the many American Bass team regions. First place at each of the Team Classic's will receive a Ranger/Mercury boat package no matter the number of boats competing! The Team Classics feature a $200 basic entry fee (plus mandatory event fees) with a 100% payback of the entry fee to second place through the 20% of field. Examples; if there are 100 boats in the Team Classic, there would be $20,000 cash awarded to 2nd-20th places. If there are 80 boats in the Team Classic, there would be $16,000 cash awarded to 2nd16th places. The $200 entry is required, teams may also choose to enter additional options for a chance to win even more cash!

The top team at Willamette River / Newberg-Rogers Landing was Jeremy McKay of Creswell, OR and Darryl Burkhardt of Boring, OR. They had a great day on the water weighing in 5 Bass that weighed 15.23lbs! Along with their 1st Place trophies they received $920.00 CASH! Congratulations on your victory! Jeremy is a member of the Drain Raider, Enigma Fishing, and TK Innovation teams. Darryl is a member of the Lowrance, Nixon Marine, Ranger Boats, EV Eyewear, Evinrude Etec, and Evinrude OMC teams.
The runner-up spot at Willamette River / Newberg-Rogers Landing was the team of Kory Ray & Todd Woolard. They took second place by bringing 5 Bass to the scales that weighed 12.60lbs. They received $575.00 CASH and a pair of 2nd place plaques! Congrats on the great finish at Willamette River / Newberg-Rogers Landing!
Finishing 3rd at the Willamette River / Newberg-Rogers Landing tournament was the team of Aubrey Holloway & Rosie Williams. They weighed 5 Bass going 9.44lbs! Aubrey is a member of the Hitch Pro & Tow, Drag On Jig's, Undercover Sportman, Stormr, Strictly Fishing, Superior Silkscreen, Drain Raider, Woo Tungsten, HH Outfitters, Fish Bum, Carrot Sticks, and Justin's Reel Repair teams. Nice Going Aubrey and Rosie!
In 4th place we had Mike Baskett & Josh Marthaller. They weighed in 5 Bass for a total weight of 8.45lbs. Great job at Willamette River / Newberg-Rogers Landing!
Rounding out the top 5 at Willamette River / Newberg-Rogers Landing on was the team of Bryon Smith & Joe Armijo. They have 5 Bass weighing 7.99lbs. earned them this top 5 finish! They received the 5th Place Plaques.
The biggest Bass of the day was weighed in by the team of Kory Ray & Todd Woolard. Their big fish weighed 5.82 pounds!
This region offers American Bass angler's some of the best fishing in the West! To qualify from any region, you need to compete in a minimum of 5 events. Jump in at the next tournament if you missed this event. All of you Traveler's players should take a look at some of the events in this region, it will be a lot of fun!
