Resort: Ron Speed Jr's Adventures

I had the exciting opportunity to fish Lake Picachcos. This is the newest bass lake in Mexico, only about 5-years old. I heard about the lake from fishing legend Jimmy Houston a couple of years ago. Ron Speed Jr invited Jimmy to the lake. Jimmy had such great success that he recorded several shows at the lake!
I have fished several Mexico bass lakes. This one promises to become one of the best ever! It has all of the right components to produce great numbers as well as giant bass.
One of the other great features of Picachcos is how close it is to the Mazatlan airport. While this is not totally important, it is certainly a great convenience. In less than 45 minutes, of a very easy ride, you are at the lake!
It is common for each boat land 50-100+ bass per day. We had lots of 2-5 pound bass each day on our three days of fishing. We caught fish on topwater, spinnerbaits, plastics and our top producer, crankbaits. Citrus Shad is the ticket! Our better fish were 6-pounders. The best in our group on this trip was over 10 lbs. Pretty awesome fish for a 5-year old lake!
There is no doubt that Lake El Salto continues to be the king of lakes for trophy bass fishing in Mexico. But if you want to get in on some amazing numbers with a constantly increasing average size, and a chance at some nice bonus fish, Lake Picachcos is the place to head.
A bonus... I booked my trip through Jim Waits. Jim has 25 years experience fishing Mexican waters, both fresh and saltwater. Jim Is an amazing outfitter and travel guide.
